Obesity rates continue to rise and many people are struggling to access healthcare due to the pandemic, but a new virtual program may just be the solution.
Made possible through Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network’s Pitch Night initiative, EMPOWER will commence on March 6.
EMPOWER is an innovative 12-week virtual program focused on healthy and holistic eating, specifically designed for people living with obesity or at risk of obesity administered by Telecare.
Participants will have access to a range of interactive sessions, expert-led workshops and resources, all aimed at improving their understanding of healthy eating and supporting them in their journey towards a healthier lifestyle.
The program will cover topics such as mindful eating, portion control, meal planning and physical activity, and is designed to be flexible, accessible and completely free of charge.
General Practitioner and Regional Medical Director of Telecare, Dr Janice Tan said they were excited to launch the program.
“By leveraging the power of virtual delivery, we’re able to bring expert knowledge and support directly to those who need it most, in a safe and convenient way,” Dr Tan said.
“We believe that this program will make a real difference to people’s lives, and we’re looking forward to working with MPHN to bring it to a broad range of people across the local community.”
Registrations are currently open at https://empowerbidgee.com.au until March 5.
