13th Annual Monash Dinner A Huge Success

IMAGE: There were 105 guests in attendance at the recent annual Monash Dinner and Oration honouring the late Sir John Monash and celebrating 100 years of the Jerilderie Cenotaph.

The 13th annual Monash Dinner and Oration coincided with the Jerilderie RSL Sub-Branch’s 100 year commemoration of the Jerilderie Cenotaph on March 17 at the Jerilderie Civic Hall.

The aim of the dinner is to honour Sir John Monash’s achievements, particularly as Jerilderie was his childhood home.

Special guests and dignitaries were out in force for the special event, with the following personages attending:

  • Federal Member for Riverina and Shadow Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Michael McCormack, MP;
  • Member for Albury, Justin Clancy, MP;
  • State President of RSL NSW, Ray James OAM and his wife, Pauline, who is State Coordinator of the RSL Auxiliary;
  • President of RSL NSW Riverina, Berdene Oxley-Boyd; and
  • President of Jerilderie RSL Sub-Branch, Laurie Blackmore.

Michael McCormack, MP, gave a speech honouring St John Monash while Ray James, OAM, spoke of the 100 year commemoration of Jerilderie Cenotaph. There were 105 guests in total at the event.
