Activate Olympic Street Just Weeks Away
Base Zero rock climbing and Totem are just two of the exciting activities on offer at the Activate Olympic Street weekend.
Just two weeks remain before Olympic Street becomes a hive of activity for the whole family.
From Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24, Olympic Street will be closed to everything but foot traffic and loads and loads of activities, entertainment, market stalls and fun, fun, fun.
Council’s Open Space Planning Officer, Jason Bertacco has encouraged local businesses to get involved in Activate Olympic Street.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase products and services to a large audience,” Mr Bertacco said.
“By participating in this local event, businesses are able to connect with new customers and be part of something special that brings the whole community together.”
The weekend will offer a range of activities and attractions, including:
Champions League 3x3 Basketball - register your team at https://tinyurl.com/4cbcf73;
Base Zero rock climbing;
Totem Skateboarding;
HIT99.7 Live Broadcast with giveaways on Saturday;
Playskate AKA Jordan Lucky delivering three live paintings and two graffiti art workshops;
Market stalls;
Youth activities;
Local entertainment;
Food trucks, and much more.
Griffith Mayor Doug Curran said the event was a fantastic initiative that would turn Olympic Street into a bustling place, encouraging connection and providing entertainment for all ages.
“It’s also an excellent opportunity for local businesses to engage with the community and I urge them to get involved if they can,” Mayor Curran said.
“I also encourage the community to support the event and our local businesses; it’s a tough time at the moment and we need to come together to get through it.”
Funding for this event came from the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program led by Transport for NSW.
