Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) and Action for Agriculture (A4A) are looking for young people who want to forge a career in the wool industry.

Their 2021 scholarship allows for a young person with their heart in the wool industry to participate in a two-year Cultivate - Growing Young Leaders program, and for a Young Farming Champion to mentor them.

Young people aged between 20 and 30 (inclusive), undertaking postgraduate studies or working within the wool industry are invited to apply for the program. Successful applicants will receive a two-year package of support, including media training, networking and mentorship opportunities to help them share why their heart is in the wool industry.

Founder of Picture You In Agriculture and National Program Director Lynne Strong said the AWI and A4A were looking for young people as an opportunity to practise their leadership skills.

“They’re looking to involve young people in leadership roles,” Ms Strong said.

“They’re about giving young people the confidence to put their hands up, and there is no shortage of people in the industry willing to mentor them.”

Expressions of interest must be submitted by 5pm on September 30, 2021. The EOI brochure can be found here and the Expression of Interest form here.
