Casella Wines and Employees Show Community Spirit

Meals On Wheels have recently reminded their clients that they can enjoy a complimentary bottle of red or white wine courtesy of Casella Family Brands with their lunch once a week.

Tenille Valenzisi from Meals On Wheels said it was a project of longstanding.

“We have enjoyed a partnership with Casella Wines for a number of years,” Ms Valenzisi said.

“Some of the staff from Casella Wines deliver the Piccolo bottles once a week.

“They deliver meals for us as well.

“Casella Wines have been amazing.”

The wine is donated free of charge and Communications Manager Frankie Harding said that employees at Casella Family Brands had been volunteering for Meals On Wheels for over seven years.

“Since we’ve been in partnership with Meals On Wheels, we have had the opportunity to deliver meals across the Griffith community, as well as the Hanwood, Tharbogang and Yenda townships,” Ms Harding said.

One of the Casella volunteers, Josie Sergi shared a little about her involvement with the partnership.

“The residents look forward to our arrival each fortnight, and handing over their meals, having a chat and some choose to receive our 187ml bottles of [yellow tail] wine to enjoy with their meal,” Ms Sergi said.

“It’s a very rewarding effort as a volunteer to know that you’ve made someone’s day, and helped the community at the same time.”

Clients wishing to enjoy a nice glass of red or white with their lunch once a week just need to let the team at Meals On Wheels know their preferred drop.
