Anne-Napoli Deputy-Mayor

Councillor Anne Napoli looks forward to serving the community.

It is a role she has performed before during her time on Council since 2004, but Griffith’s newly elected Deputy Mayor Anne Napoli said it was one she cherished.

“I feel privileged to have been elected as Deputy Mayor again,” Councillor Napoli said.

“I’ll do my best to be a voice for my community and to work in harmony with the mayor and other Councillors.

“We’re all individuals, with individual thoughts and aspirations, but ultimately we’re all there because the community voted us in, so we need to work together for the good of the community.”

When asked what she would like to see in Griffith if money was not a consideration, she laughed.

“As we all know, money is something that always has to be considered, but in an ideal world, I would see all our roads repaired and upgraded and arterial roads sealed,” Councillor Napoli said.

“I’d see our parks and gardens fully function with all amenities and for all abilities.

“I think the entrance to our city should be something people talk about, saying Griffith is a great place to visit.

“I’d like to see the economy grow and for us to lend more of a hand to our businesses and industry and attract more businesses, industry and services to Griffith.

“I’d look after our young people with apprenticeships and traineeships.

It is nice, and healthy, to dream big, but as Councillor Napoli said money is often one of the first considerations when taking on a new project for the city and Council applies for whatever grants they can to accomplish as much as they can.

She said that it was often difficult, because funding is usually for a specific purpose.

“If you get a grant for parks, you can’t go and spend it on roads because grants are earmarked for specific purposes,” Councillor Napoli said.

Her aim is to be more in touch with our community, with consultations and working as a team with Council to do our best for the community.
