Commemorating ANZAC Day While Social Distancing

Creating your own wreath can be a great way to commemorate ANZAC Day, and to explain to your children why we remember the ANZACS.

Last year was the first time since 1919 that ANZAC Day gatherings were cancelled.

Aussies were determined that a little thing like Covid wasn’t going to keep our patriotic spirits captive.

Social media was awash with suggestions as to how we could honour our servicemen and women for the sacrifices that they have made over the years.

There were streets with people standing at the end of their driveways holding candles and torches for an inspiration dawn service.

Trumpeters, buglers and other musicians regaled us with their renditions of The Last Post.

Mums baked Anzac biscuits with their children, telling the stories of our brave soldiers as they did.

Home-made wreaths and poppies adorned the doors and gates of neighbourhood properties.

Griffith residents may not be able to march this weekend, but we will remember those who risk their lives for our freedoms.

Let’s keep an eye out for any more unique and wonderful ways to honour our servicemen and women this ANZAC Day.
