Council’s Committee Structures Finalised For 2024-2028
Council finalises committee structure for the 2024-2028 term.
Griffith City Council’s committee structure for the 2024-2028 term has been finalised.
Mayor Doug Curran said the updated structure reflected Council’s focus on infrastructure and planning.
“This term’s committee structure hopes to address the evolving needs of our city and ensure we are prepared to meet future challenges,” Mayor Curran said.
In accordance with Section 355 of the Local Government Act 1993, Council has formed committees to facilitate greater input from community members into strategic planning.
The new Chairs and Councillors will hold the positions for two years.
The newly appointed committees and their respective Chairs are:
Disability Inclusion and Access, Councillor Shari Blumer.
Lake Wyangan and Catchment Management, Mayor Doug Curran.
New Cemetery Masterplan, Councillor Jenny Ellis.
Pioneer Park Museum, Councillor Shari Blumer.
New committees:
GM Recruitment Committee, Mayor Doug Curran.
Roads, Parks and Pathways Enhancement, Councillor Shari Blumer.
Saleyards, Councillor Scott Groat.
Airport, Councillor Christine Stead.
Landfill/FOGO, Mayor Doug Curran.
“These committees are an essential mechanism for fostering community engagement and ensuring that stakeholders have a voice in Council’s decision-making processes,” Mayor Curran said.
If you would like to serve on one of the committees, keep an eye out in January 2025 when Council calls for community representation.
Nominations will be reviewed by the Councillors appointed to each committee, with the final recommendations presented to Council in a subsequent report.
