Inspired by teachers she connected with at school and her sister who chased a career she was passionate about, Danielle Frank opened Griffith Tutoring Centre last year.
“I have four tutors on staff and currently have 80 students,” Mrs Frank said. Owning her own business allows Mrs Frank to work intensively with students guiding them through their studies.
“I wanted to be able to implement my own ideas,” she said.
“I wanted to build a lifestyle and career that suited me.”
Mrs Frank, who has her teaching degree, came to Griffith from Newcastle a few years ago for an 8-week contract which turned into three years working as a senior tutorial teacher at Griffith High.
“I loved that much more than teaching in a classroom,” Mrs Frank said. She has experienced challenges along the way, like learning to be a people manager and balancing staff intake with student enrolments.
“I’m developing a community of families around my business,” Mrs Frank said. “There’s a lot of personal satisfaction. The biggest lesson I’ve learned, a life lesson rather than a business one, is to stop questioning myself, stop second-guessing myself and surrounding myself with positive people.”
