Griffith businesses indulge in a cuppa and cupcake to celebrate National Meals on Wheels Day.

Who doesn’t enjoy a sweet morsel with their cuppa for morning or afternoon tea?

Plus, indulging in a cupcake on Wednesday, August 31 is in aid of a good cause - keeping the vital services of Meals on Wheels going strong in our local community.

Senior Coordinator of Griffith Meals on Wheels & Hampers of Hope, Tennille Valenzisi said that historically, they celebrated National Meals on Wheels day with a Cuppa for a Cause event where everyone could come together and enjoy morning tea with the team.

“For the last two years it has been so difficult for that to happen due to COVID-19,” Ms Valenzisi said.

“This year, even though we do not have the restrictions that we had to abide by last year, we have seen a lot of businesses struggling with staff absences due to the continuing pandemic.

“This is an opportunity for them to not only support our cause but to thank their employees for their patience, loyalty and commitment in an extremely uncertain world.

“Funds raised from this project go towards continuing to deliver our services to residents in Griffith and surrounding villages.

“We would love the support of the community.”

Meals on Wheels has added a delivery run out to Darlington Point and Coleambally this year.

The Meals on Wheels team delivered delicious cupcakes baked by Vaccari’s Bakery all week.
