Independent Member for Murray commends NSW Government for chipping in $250,000 to upgrade Deniliquin Hospital, but continues to advocate for more funding for the Murrumbidgee Local Health District and rural NSW communities.

The NSW Government has announced a $250,000 funding boost to upgrade health facilities in Murrumbidgee Local Health District.

Independent Member for Murray Helen Dalton said it was a good start, but the district needed more.

“This money will help, but it is nothing like the level of support we need in rural NSW,” Ms Dalton said.

The funding will go to Deniliquin Hospital to purchase two surgical suite pendants which allow for easier access to medical gases and general surgical equipment.

“Hospital staff say they need this high-tech equipment, so it’s good to see the NSW Government is chipping in to help buy it,” Ms Dalton said.

“This small boost is helpful, but it is nowhere near enough to bridge the gap between

healthcare in the cities and healthcare in rural NSW.

“Every NSW life is equal and our health system should reflect this.

“So while I welcome this funding, it’s important to point out it is not enough and more needs

to be done to provide the people of rural NSW the level of health care they deserve.”
