Dalton’s Efforts Yield Results On High School Demerger
Griffith will return to two separate public high schools commencing at the beginning of 2024.
It is official, Griffith will have two separate public high schools again, with the demerger taking place from day one of term one 2024.
Independent Member for Murray, Helen Dalton has fought long and hard for the demerger of Murrumbidgee Regional High School and was very pleased to receive a guarantee from Minister for Education, Prue Car that the demerger would take place, and quickly.
“Thankfully, the Minns government has listened and is acting in the best interests of our kids and our communities on this issue,” Ms Dalton said.
“The school merger was a disaster from day one.
“It never should have been allowed to happen.
“The teachers who were forced into this merger have paid a terrible price.
“I am confident the children will thrive in all curriculum areas under this demerger.”
Minister for Education, Prue Car announced that the NSW Government was delivering on a key election commitment to support regional education with the demerger of Murrumbidgee Regional High School.
“We have listened to the concerns of the local community and are committed to continuing to work with them through the next phase.
“We need to put students at the heart of hte demerger and ensure no child misses out on any support program or part of the curriculum currently on offer.
“The community has been through enough and it is is time we end an experiment that should never have gone ahead.”
