Darlington Point will be inundated with visitors this weekend as people converge on the small community to attend the Warangesda Festival from February 17 to 18.
This influx of visitors equates to dollars spent in local shops, cafes and businesses.
Duty MLC for Murray, Wes Fang said the festival was supported by more than $250,000 from the Regional Events Accelerations Fund and would be a drawcard for tourists keen to immerse themselves further into Indigenous history and culture.
“Over two days, The Warangesda Festival will offer unique opportunities for visitors with music, dance, theatre, food and workshops to be experienced right here in Western Riverina,” Mr Fang said.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, Paul Toole said the Regional Events Acceleration Fund supported the growth of existing regional events and attracting new major domestic and international events to regional NSW.
“The Regional Events and Acceleration Fund has already supported more than 100 events and attracted an estimated one million visitors to the regions, laying the foundations for a strong recovery across regional NSW,” Mr Toole said.
The $40 million Regional Events Acceleration Fund is part of the $3.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to support growing regional centres, activate local economies and improve services and community infrastructure for regional communities.
