Deadline For Australia Day Award Nominations Extended To December 6
Take advantage of the extended deadline to nominate a local hero for an Australia Day Award.
Griffith City Council has extended the deadline for nominations for the 2024 Griffith Australia Day Awards to give the community more time to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary individuals who make Griffith a better place to live.
The nomination period has been extended to December 6 due to fewer submissions than anticipated being received.
Griffith City Council’s Community Development Coordinator Melissa Canzian has urged everyone to take the opportunity to acknowledge those who go above and beyond our community.
“Do you know someone who deserves to be recognised for their contribution to our community?,” Ms Canzian said.
“Whether they’re a dedicated volunteer, a mentor, or someone who makes a difference in everyday life, this is your chance to shine a spotlight on their efforts.”
The Griffith Australia Day Awards categories include:
Citizen of the Year;
Young Citizen of the Year (Nominees must be under 25 years as at January 26, 2025);
Environmental Citizen of the Year;
Young Environmental Citizen of the Year;
Community Project of the Year;
Sportsperson of the Year;
Junior Sportsperson of the Year;
Sports Team of the Year; and
Club Person of the Year.
Don’t miss the opportunity to celebrate the unsung heroes of our community.
