Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) has called for questions on notice ahead of the 2023 Annual Public Meeting.

The meeting is an opportunity for MLHD to reflect on the 2022-2023 year and provide an overview of the organisation’s achievements, activity and performance.

It will be livestreamed via webinar from 1 pm on Wednesday, November 15.

Executive Director of Medical Services and General Manager of the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, Professor Len Bruce will deliver the keynote address.

Professor Bruce completed his medical training at the University of Stellenbosch in 1993.

He was awarded Academic Colours by the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Stellenbosch in 1992.

Before specialising in anaesthesia, Professor Bruce worked in general medicine, general practice and anatomical pathology.

He has been a specialist anaesthetist for over 20 years, having practised in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia.

The professor has an interest in the perioperative use of ultrasound, geriatric anaesthesia, and perioperative medicine.

In addition to clinical practice, he has been working in medical leadership roles for more than a decade with special interests in rural workforce strategies, patient safety and ensuring equitable access to healthcare for rural communities by utilising technology and value-based healthcare principles.

The keynote speech will be followed by presentations from the MLHD Board Chair, Glynis Ingram, Chief Executive Jill Ludford and Finance and Performance Director, Kevin Lawrence.

Members of the public will have the opportunity to post questions to the panel of speakers.

Questions can also be submitted on notice via email to: MLHD-feedback@health.nsw.gov.au

The highlight of the MLHD annual calendar, the presentation of the 2023 Don Kendell Memorial Leadership Award will conclude the event. This award is presented annually to an emerging leader who reflects the values of aviation pioneer Don Kendell. Excellence, professionalism and integrity are key attributes as well as the ability to inspire team spirit and lead change.
