The Cat in the Hat performs at Griffith Regional Theatre on Saturday, July 15.

If you are looking for something to entertain and delight the kids during the school holidays, the Griffith Regional Theatre may just have the ticket.

The Cat in the Hat will be performing at the theatre on Saturday, July 15.

Of course, the story has been around for over 50 years and, just like you did, the kids absolutely love it.

In 1957, Dr Seuss used just 200 words to write his classic tale.

More than 50 years later, The Cat in the Hat is a much-loved children’s phenomenon.

The story was adapted for the stage in 2009 by the National Theatre of Britain.

The story begins when The Cat in the Hat interrupts a rainy afternoon with an unexpected visit to Sally and her brother’s cosy home.

Their outspoken and outraged pet Fish is astounded and concerned, but this cat will not be deterred.

He is determined to teach them to make their own fun with nothing but a little imagination.

“It’s fun to have fun, but you have to know how.”

Kids will meet Thing One and Thing Two, acquaintances of The Cat in the Hat.

Together they will fill the theatre with mischievous humour and madcap style.

Young and old alike will delight in this lively adaptation of a classic tale as it comes to vivid life before their eyes.

Parents should be warned that things do run amuck, and quickly.

Griffith Regional Theatre Manager, Marg Andreazza said it was a fantastic show that children and adults will love.

“It was a huge hit when it came in 2009, and it looks like it will be this year, too, as many tickets have already been sold,” Ms Andreazza said.

“I would avoid disappointment and book as early as possible.”

The Cat in the Hat will perform live on stage on Saturday, July 15 from 10:30 am.

Tickets can be purchased from the Box Office, by calling 6962 8444 or by visiting www.griffithregionaltheatre.com.au.
