Tertiary students from the Murrumbidgee Council area can now apply for a Murrumbidgee Council Education Scholarship.

Scholarships, valued at $1000, are available to students studying at a tertiary institution this year.

Applicants can be studying at university, TAFE and other recognised tertiary education providers.

Murrumbidgee Council Mayor, Ruth McRae said the annual scholarship program aimed to help students and their families meet the many costs of studying, particularly when away from home.

Mayor McRae said the benefits of furthering one’s education are enormous, with the whole community sharing these when people stay in or return to our area for work opportunities.

“Last year we were proud to award scholarships to seven students: Carissa Bellato, Riley Belling, Austin Mauger, Alex A’Vard, Thomas Gill, Danielle Mannes and Phoebe White,” Mayor McRae said.

Applicants must live within the Murrumbidgee Council Local Government Area.

Guidelines and applications for the scholarships can be obtained from Council’s webiste or at Council offices in Coleambally, Darlington Point and Jerilderie.

Applications close on Friday, March 17.

Phone Sue Mitchell, Manager Corporate Services on 1300 676 243 for more information or for assistance with your application.
