Rural Financial Counselling Services is one of 22 organisations across the State that will receive funding as part of the NSW $1 million Investing In Women Program.
Duty MLC for Murray and Wagga, Wes Fang said the Rural Financial Counselling Services played a crucial role in Riverina communities, providing local women with the support they needed.
“Funding of $21,234 will assist this wonderful organisation to scope and explore a financial retirement course for women planning to retire from farming because we know the transition from farming to retirement can be complex,” Mr Fang said.
The investing in Women Program is about ensuring women across NSW have the support, skills and opportunities they need so they can face challenges and work towards achieving their goals with confidence.”
Minister for Women, Bronnie Taylor said organisations like the Rural Financial Counselling Services were already doing an incredible job across NSW and this funding would ensure even more women could be supported.
“The Investing in Women program is helping deliver a range of initiatives including training 200 women to become nationally accredited surf coaches, financial literacy programs in Western Sydney, and targeted employment programs,” Mrs Taylor said.
Since 2013, the program has provided more than $4.3 million to projects that support women and girls in NSW.
