Monday saw the first QantasLink touch down in Griffith. It sealed the future of the airline’s daily Sydney return service.

Qantas service will run a 50-seat Q300 turboprop vehicle, adding to the flight transport service options that currently only Rex offer.

“The first flight out of Griffith is just the beginning. It’s just fantastic to have the flying kangaroo touch down here... It is very exciting to have Griffith and the Riverina on the Qantas map,” said CEO John Gissing.

“We have a lot of faith in Griffith from the surrounding areas. We see a great potential for growth.”

The service will benefit 12 million frequent flyers and the Griffith community engage in further business and pleasure by having this direct connection to Sydney.

Qantas representatives, Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi, Deputy Mayor Simon Croce and General Manager Brett Stonestreet celebrated the first flight.
