GBH Celebrates Annual Staff Week

Griffith Base Hospital staff were treated to various activities through the week of November 14 to 18 for their annual Staff Week.
Griffith Base Hospital celebrated its annual Staff Week from Monday, November 14 to Friday, November 18.
Members of the Griffith Staff Advisory Committee planned various activities for staff, with their theme Revitalised focusing on health, well-being, kindness, self-care and culture.
The Chairperson of the committee, Ms Fiona McKern acknowledged the challenges for staff over the past two years of providing a service to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our staff at Griffith Base Hospital are invaluable and we wanted to do something that recognised that and allowed them time to reflect, pause and focus on their own well-being,” Ms McKern said.
Staff enjoyed the activities, which included art relaxation sessions, meditation sessions, a well-being scavenger hunt, trade stands, a staff barbecue and cooking demonstrations.
Revitalise stations were scattered across the hospital with a coffee van onsite and lunch orders available from local restaurants.
The stations had snacks, water, pens, sticky notes, bath salts, tea and coffee, sweets and other material.
The Staff Advisory Committee ensured stations were well stocked and regularly replenished.
Staff were treated to a connection afternoon as their final activity for the week.
Ms McKern acknowledged the effort and support of the team and staff and numerous local businesses who supported the week.
“Many teams were involved in the delivery of this event, including the MLHD well-being team and the Griffith Base Hospital maintenance team,” Ms McKern said.
“This week would not have been possible without their support, and the incredible teamwork of the Staff Advisory Committee.
“On behalf of the Committee and staff at Griffith Base Hospital, I would like to thank our staff and the local community.
“We hope to plan for a bigger and better event next year.”
