Griffith Australia Day Award Nominations Now Open
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2025 Australia Day Awards.
Griffith City Council is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Australia Day Awards, which celebrate the remarkable contributions of local residents, community groups, and events.
This is an opportunity to honour those who make a difference in our community.
Submissions are open until Friday, November 15, with the awards to be presented at the Australia Day Ceremony in January 2025.
Council’s Community Development Coordinator, Melissa Canzian said now was the time to acknowledge those who go above and beyond.
“Their selfless service deserves to be celebrated, ensuring their efforts don’t go unnoticed,” Ms Canzian said.
“I urge members of our community groups, sporting clubs and service organisations to consider nominating someone for an Australia Day Award.
“Whether through leadership, or action, these individuals play a vital role in enhancing the city we live in, and they deserve recognition.”
Nominations are being accepted in the following categories:
Citizen of the Year;
Young Citizen of the Year (nominees must be under 25 years of age as at January 26, 2025);
Environmental Citizen of the Year;
Young Environmental Citizen of the Year;
Community Project of the Year;
Sportsperson of the Year;
Junior Sportsperson of the Year;
Sports Team of the Year; and
Club Person of the Year.

Winners will be announced during the Australia Day Award Ceremony in January 2025 at the Griffith Regional Theatre.
