The U12s Football NSW Country Cup played in Griffith from Saturday to Monday, June 26 to 28 went to the Griffith representative side.
Teams from Orange, Southern Tablelands, Dubbo, Far South Coast, Shoalhaven, Albury and Griffith converged on Ted Scobie Oval for a weekend full of competitive football spirit. U12 Griffith & District Representative coach Chris Piva said the team did extremely well.
“We went through the whole series undefeated,” Mr Piva said.
“We came up against a team from Dubbo and drew 1 all, it was quite tough.”
They came up against the Dubbo team again on Monday in the grand final, but the boys came through from 2 nil down to win 5:2.
“They didn’t drop their heads.
“It was a great commitment from the whole team.”
The boys are now anxiously awaiting news of their next tournament, which may be delayed due to the current COVID restrictions. Mr Piva said it was sad for the kids who just want to keep playing.
