Griffith Celebrates Its Youth With Festival
ConnectYOUth Festival kicks off as part of Youth Week 2023 on Friday, April 21.
Griffith will celebrate its youth on Friday, April 21 when the ConnectYOUth Festival kicks off as part of Youth Week 2023.
The free event is designed for the city’s young people aged between 12 and 24 years.
Youth are urged to go with friends or make new friends at the festival.
In 1989, Youth Week was birthed from a New South Wales Government initiative that has since grown to be a celebration of young people in every state and territory across the country.
It is organised by young people for young people, and Griffith’s youth will deliver a great lineup of entertainment at the Griffith Regional Sports Centre kicking off from 3 pm.
ConnectYOUth Festival Event Coordinator, Lara Rossetto said she was excited to be able to present the festival.
“We wanted to give Griffith youth a relaxed, free event where they could come along, just chill out and get involved,” Ms Rossetto said.
“We’ve got some really good acts lined up.
“I can’t wait to see everyone there.”
Griffith Mayor, Doug Curran said Youth Week was an opportunity for young people to express their ideas and views, act on issues that affect their lives, and create and enjoy activities and events.
“Our new Youth Action Group is really excited to be able to present this event,” Mayor Curran said.
“As the name suggests, ConnectYOUth is about encouraging young Griffith people from all walks of life to make new connections. “I hope that youth support this event.
“It should be a really great afternoon.”
Get out and enjoy this fun-filled afternoon including local market stalls, sport competitions with prizes up for grabs, food and iceblocks provided - OMG Donuts will also be available.
