Griffith City Council Celebrates Local Government Week
Griffith City Council’s Local Government Week celebrations will once again include one of their popular Council cafes.
Local Government Week, July 31 to August 6, was designed to showcase the work councils do in their local communities, including the wide variety of services they provide.
This year, Griffith City Council will use the week to say thank you to the selfless volunteers who support Council and highlight some of the services and facilities the community enjoys.
The council invites residents to join the celebrations.
Griffith Mayor, Doug Curran said the week was always a good opportunity to let the community know more about what Council does.
“Most people don’t realise the extent of what Council does,” Mayor Curran said.
“There are a whole host of things beyond roads, rates and rubbish.
“We know from a lot of recent discussions that our community appreciate the work done by our Council and staff.
“I invite residents to get involved in the activities we have planned throughout the week.”
Council will hold a Thank You Morning Tea for Council volunteers on Tuesday, August at the Griffith Regional Theatre foyer.
Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (GRALC) will offer free come and try classes for Griffith residents.
