Microchipping

Pet owners are encouraged to take advantage of Griffith City Council’s free microchipping day on Saturday, September 28.

Griffith City Council will hold a free microchipping day at Kubank Park, Parkinson Crescent, Griffith on Saturday, September 28 from 10 am to 1 pm.

This event provides a valuable opportunity for pet owners in the Griffith area to ensure their pets are microchipped, and that their details are accurate and up-to-date.

Pet owners are invited to bring their pets along and have them checked by the team to see if they are already microchipped.

If pets are not already microchipped, they will provide the service for free.

The team will also help update information on the Companion Animals Register after the event for anyone whose pet’s microchip details are incorrect.

The Pound and Animal Rehoming Centre team will be available to answer questions and offer advice on responsible pet ownership, including the importance of registration and proper care.

The Friends of the Griffith Pound will also be on hand to provide information about their desexing program and to offer desexing vouchers to eligible residents.

This event aligns with Griffith City Council’s commitment to promoting responsible pet ownership and ensuring compliance with the Companion Animals Act 1998, which requires pet owners to have their pets microchipped and “Lifetime Registered”.

It is a legal requirement to microchip pets by the time they are 12 weeks old.

Pet registration should also be completed by the time the pet is 12 weeks old or when it is sold, if sold earlier.

All pet owners are encouraged to take advantage of this free service.
