Griffith City Library will be closed from Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22 for refurbishment of shelves.

Griffith City Library will be closed for refurbishment from Monday, March 18 to Friday, March 22.

When the library reopens on Saturday, March 23 at 9 am new shelves will have been installed, allowing better access to the library’s collections.

The installation will be carried out by a team from the Melbourne supplier.

Due to the disruption within the library while old shelves will be dismantled and new shelves installed, it was decided to close the library to the public to ensure everyone’s safety.

Staff will be busy moving the library collections from old shelves to new ones and will man the phones for any queries.

Griffith City Library Manager Chris Robson said the community will still have access to the library services via the Bookmobile.

Visit https://www.wrl.nsw.gov.au/our-libraries/mobile-libraries/ to find the Mobile Library Service Schedule.

Some library programs, such as Tuesday’s Easter Rhyme Time will be held off-site and online applications such as BorrowBox, IndyReads, Hoopla and online information databases will still be available to utilise digital resources.

Online resources can be found at https://www.wrl.nsw.gov.au/digitallibrary/.

Storytime on Wednesday and Friday and Rhyme Time on Thursday will be cancelled for the refurbishment week.

Easter Rhyme Time will be held in Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 19 at 10 am.

“We realise that this closure will impact many people and we would like to thank our community for their patience and understanding as we work to improve our library,” Mr Robson said.

The library was successful in their application to the NSW State Library for a Public Library Infrastructure Grant to enable this work to be carried out.
