Griffith City Council facilities will reopen following news that Stay at Home orders will be lifted from the city's LGA from 12:01am Saturday, September 11. Mayor, Councillor John Dal Broi said while the easing of restrictions was good news for the community, he reminded residents that the Deputy Premier John Barilaro had stressed that just one active case in our community would send us straight back into a 14-day lockdown.

"It is vitally important that we follow COVID protocols and get vaccinated as soon as we can," Cr Dal Broi said.

"Getting vaccinated is our passport out of this."

Council facilities will reopen as follows:

  • Griffith Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre (GRALC) - Saturday, 11 September
  • Griffith City Library - Saturday, 11 September
  • Griffith Regional Art Gallery - Saturday, 11 September
  • Griffith Pioneer Park Museum - Saturday, 11 September
  • Griffith Visitor Information Centre - Monday, 13 September
  • Griffith Regional Theatre - Monday, 13 September
  • Westend Stadium - (until further notice)
  • Senior Citizens Centre - as per bookings and subject to restrictions for gatherings

Council, Committee and Working Group meetings will also recommence under COVID safe conditions.

Under the eased restrictions gyms and indoor recreation facilities can open under the one person per 4sqm rule and can offer classes for up to 20 people. Sporting facilities can reopen.

Masks will remain mandatory for all indoor public venues, including on planes and at airports, but only hospitality staff will be required to wear a mask outdoors.
