Griffith Community Grants Program Funding Awarded

Griffith City Council awards eight community grants to help address community needs.
Griffith City Council has awarded community grants to eight local organisations allowing them to deliver a range of community-based projects.
Director of Economic and Organisational Development, Shireen Donaldson said the Community Grant Program supported applications from organisations that addressed the needs of the community as outlined in the Council’s Community Strategic Plan.
The program also supports individuals attending significant activities or events at a State and National level.
“The aim is to support new initiatives, activities and projects that increase community capacity to address unmet needs, improve well-being and harmony, and reduce isolation or disadvantaged groups,” Mrs Donaldson said.
“Congratulations to the successful applicants which represent a wide variety of communities right across Griffith, we’re sure these grants will helop make all these projects a success.”
Griffith Mayor, Doug Curran said the Council was pleased to support activities that improve welfare and provide positive outcomes for the community.
“The Community Grant Program is a great way to help local organisations and individuals reach their goals,” said Mayor Curran.
“We have heard from some parts of the community that during these difficult financial periods, we should suspend our community grants program but I honestly feel the benefit to some of the most needy segments of our community are worth fighting for and I want to see the program continue.
“The work being done by these groups is invaluable and will flow on to our community.”
The successful grant recipients in Round 1 2023/24 are:
- Centacare South West NSW - $500
- Ema Munro auspiced by Murrumbidgee Field Naturalists - $1,400
- Griffith Aged Support Service - $2,500
- Griffith Golf Club - $2,500
- Griffith Musicians Club Incorporated - $2,500
- Griffith Public School - $2,500
- Griffith South Pacific Area Conference (auspiced by CWA of NSW) - $2,500
- Marrambidya Dance Group Inc. - $2,500
