Griffith Firefighters Need Your Help
Your unused padlocks can help provide training for local firefighters.
Local firefighters have been put through their paces learning how to perform forceful entries, but the training is taking a toll on the back pocket.
Firefighter Anthony Hatch said they have tools to break through padlocks in the event that they arrive at a fire where everything is locked up, but they had to learn how to use the tools effectively, and to do that they need padlocks.
“Purchasing padlocks at $10 a pop only to break them, albeit for a good cause, is not very cost-effective.I’m sure there are people out there who’ve got padlocks they’ve lost the keys to,” Mr Hatch said.
“We’ve got 22000 people in town, surely they’ve got a few packlocks they haven’t got a use for.”
If you have an unused padlock sitting around, think of our firefighters. You can call Mr Hatch on 0419 406 220 to organise collection or you can pull up to the front of the Fire Brigade opposite Exies and drop them in the container out the front.
Griffith has had 20 house fires recently, so our firies need as much support as they can get to keep us and our properties safe.
