Griffith Gets A Second Maccas Outlet
Griffith’s second Maccas restaurant should be up and operating before Christmas, all things going well.
Thirty-one years after Griffith welcomed its first McDonalds restaurant, a second restaurant will be up and running before Christmas, all things going well.
Franchisees, Matt and Larissa Gidley moved to town and took over the first Maccas site just four-and-a-half years ago.
Matt said that Griffith ticked most boxes for him and his wife.
“I think Griffith’s a hidden gem,” Matt said
“We tell everyone it’s a great country town to immerse yourself in.”
Matt sees only opportunities for positive outcomes for a second Maccas site in town.
“We’re a big employer,” he said.
“The new site will create at least another 100 jobs.
“Seeing people develop and train and being able to bring in people for their first jobs, it is exciting.
“When the opportunity for a second store presented itself, obviously on the southern side of town made the most retail sense.
“There are a lot of businesses out this way, but no other food outlet in this district.”
The new restaurant is currently under construction next door to Griffith City Cinemas.
The main focus at the moment is recruiting and training new staff, and Matt said they will be interviewing quickly.
Anyone interested in applying for a position should log on to the Maccas website and hit My Career and My Job before following the prompts.
People from 14 to 70 are eligible to apply for a position, and they are offering casual, part-time and full-time positions.
Matt said that they had not yet decided whether they would apply for a 24-hour licence to operate from the second site.
“We just want to focus on recruiting and training new staff,” he said.
“It’s just another opportunity for Griffith to continue thriving as a community.
“We get great support from the community and we support sporting clubs, community groups and charities in return.
“We get great satisfaction out of giving back.“
