Griffith Hosts Aged Care Expo
Palliative Care Australia urges Government to fund a palliative care workforce strategy that includes training aged care workers in palliative care.
Navigating the aged care system can seem confusing at first, but the team at Meals on Wheels has the perfect solution to help - an Aged Care Expo.
Meals on Wheels Senior Coordinator, Tennille Valenzisi said the idea for the expo came about following questions from an increasing number of the ageing population.
“The Aged Care Expo came about after we saw an increasing number of our ageing population coming in to see us at the Hub for assistance navigating the aged care system,” Ms Valenzisi said.
“They simply did not know where to start getting information so we decided to get everyone together so that they could see what is available in our local community.
“Ageing can be a difficult time in everyone’s lives and we hope to be able to provide information and support to enable them to live happily and comfortably.”
The expo will take place on Thursday, August 31 from 10 am to 3 pm at Griffith Bagtown Function Centre.
Entry is free.
Ms Valenzisi said it was shaping up to be a fantastic event.
“We have around 40 stallholders, including allied health professionals, residential aged care providers, home care providers, legal professionals, government departments, support groups, special equipment providers, Transport NSW, Service NSW, Services Australia, Council facilities, funeral services, NSW Ambulance, and social support groups just to name a few,” Ms Valenzisi said.
