Griffith Regional Art Gallery Celebrates 40 Years With Season Launch
Griffith Regional Art Gallery’s 2023 season’s program launch coincides with its 40th anniversary.
Griffith Regional Art Gallery (GRALG) will celebrate 40 years with the launch of the 2023 exhibition program and a very special guest.
The official launch will occur at the gallery on Friday, February 10 at 6 pm and include the usual full rundown on all upcoming exhibitions for the year, as well as public programs, including workshops and art classes.
Art Gallery Manager, Marg Andreazzasaid they were excited to announce that they would welcome artist Alison Mitchell to the launch.
“Alison’s exhibition Unlemon: A Meandering Tale Of Citrus is currently on exhibition at the gallery, so we are delighted she can join us to talk about her beautiful artworks,” Mrs Andreazza said.
“This year marks a milestone in the history of the gallery as we celebrate its 40th birthday.
“To commemorate this, we will be curating an exhibition of artworks, historical information and other ephemera highlighting the gallery’s 40-year history.
“This event, taking place in September, will be a highlight of our 2023 program.”
Art Gallery Co-ordinator, Ray Wholahan said the 2023 program would focus on exhibitions and projects that engaged artists based on exhibitions that engaged artists based in the Riverina or how they have practised art making the Riverina themes that are relevant to our diverse community.
“Our public programs officer, Melanie Toscan has been busy planning a number of engaging public programs and workshops, art talk, after-school kids’ art classes and holiday programs throughout the year,” Mr Wholahan said.
The gallery will continue its partnership with the local winery, Dee Vine Estate.
“We thank Dee Vine Estate for again coming on board to supply our patrons with their fine wines for our events, and encourage everyone to come and join us on Friday, February 10,” Mrs Andreazza said.
