Griffith Youth Action Group Gives Young People A Voice

Newly-formed Griffith Youth Action Group leaps into their role with a very successful ConnectYOUth Festival on April 21.
The newly-formed Griffith Youth Action Group, comprising 13 passionate young people aged 12 to 24, has successfully hosted its first local event.
The group aims to represent and advocate for young people in the community by organising and promoting various events and workshops for youth.
The ConnectYOUth Festival, held on April 21, 2023, during Youth Week, was a huge success, with up to 150 young people enjoying live music, sports, market stalls, and food at the Griffith Regional Sports Centre.
Event coordinator, Lara Rossetto expressed her satisfaction with the outcome and highlighted the festival's purpose in connecting young people in Griffith.
"The idea of our group is to build awareness and give young people in Griffith a voice about youth-related issues,” Ms Rossetto said.
“We are really happy with how everything turned out, and it was great to see so many young people get together and enjoy the afternoon."
Griffith Mayor Doug Curran praised the members of the new Youth Action Group.
"Congratulations to these young people who have put their hands up to serve the Griffith community, creating a platform for the youth of this region to have a voice,” Mayor Curran said.
“I am sure we will see many positive outcomes in terms of the way we engage with young people as a result of this enthusiastic group."
The Griffith Youth Action Group aims to continue to provide opportunities for young people to voice their concerns and contribute to the community's growth and development.
