Griffith’s New Mayor And Councillors Confirmed

Doug Curran is popularly re-elected as Griffith’s Mayor for another four years and he and his newly elected fellow Councillors will be officially sworn in at the first Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 22.

Nine Councillors have been elected to Griffith City Council following confirmation from the NSW Electoral Commission on Wednesday, October 2.

Our popularly re-elected Mayor Doug Curran will be joined by Councillors Shari Blumer, Mark Dal Bon, Jenny Ellis, Scott Groat, Anne Napoli, Tony O’Grady, Christine Stead and Laurie Testoni.

Council’s General Manager Brett Stonestreet congratulated the new and returning Councillors.

“I look forward to getting to know the team,” Mr Stonestreet said.

“It’s always good to have diverse perspectives and ideas brought to the table.”

The NSW Local Government elections took place on Saturday, September 14 with the Councillors elected to serve a four-year term.

Mayor Curran said he looked forward to working closely with his fellow Councillors.

“Together, we have the opportunity to shape a brighter future for our city,” Mayor Curran said.

“I’m confident we can all work collaboratively to achieve great outcomes for our residents.”

In coming weeks, all Councillors will participate in induction and professional development training to prepare for their new roles.

The first meeting of the newly elected Council will be held on Tuesday, October 22 at 7 pm in the Council Chambers, where the Councillors will be officially sworn in.

During this meeting, Griffith’s new Deputy Mayor will be elected by the Councillors.
