Take a wander through the main street on ANZAC Day and discover a little more about our fallen heroes through the numerous monuments erected in their honour.
Erected in 1940 in Memorial Park in memory of the fall. Eight black polished granite stones were erected in front of the cenotaph to commemorate more than 3000 named war veterans in 2011.
We know it as The Plane, but the Faery Firefly Fighter plane is a memorial to our airmen. It was unveiled in 1969 and stands beside the Griffith Visitor Information Centre. The plane actually saw action in Korea.
The Griffith Memorial Hall was erected in 1939 at 167 Banna Avenue.

A brass plaque set on local sandstone sits at Memorial Park as a tribute to Italian ex-prisoners-of-war and Internees during WWII. It was unveiled in November 1991. Erected at the intersection of Banna Avenue and Kooyoo Street in 1990, in recognition of the returned soldiers that settled here after the Great War. It shows two soldiers trading their weapons for farming implements.
