Does your child know where the food you serve for dinner comes from?
You might be surprised to learn the truth.
Well-known Happy Harold and Life Ed Australia have partnered with Baker’s Delight Health Solutions range to administer the Growing Good Grains Grants program (GGGG).
CEO of Life Ed Australia, Russell D’Costa said the GGGG program was all about encouraging fresh thinking to sprout healthy habits - in and beyond the classroom.
“We have been partnering with schools to deliver preventative health education for 45 years now, and what continues to be clear is the importance of memorable, immersive experiences to embed learning,” Mr D’Costa said.
“It’s because children learn by doing and that is what GGGG is all about, encouraging kids to dig into the facts as they work together to create a healthy food garden that their whole school community can benefit from.”
By simply sharing their vision for their healthy food garden, primary schools, preschools and early learning centres across the country will have the opportunity to secure one of 25 grants valued at $1,000 each.
Thanks to major partner Baker’s Delight’s Healthy Solutions range, they will also have more chance to win with applications categorised by school type and size, plus the first 50 submissions will receive a $100 Baker’s Delight e-gift card.
Throughout the four-week campaign, from June 3 to 29, schools will be able to access free resources online to boost their applications and create unique learning experiences in the classroom.
From taking a journey through the life cycle of bread, through to growing their own wheat and making their own dough, Life Ed and Baker’s Delight’s Healthy Solutions range, have created a variety of hands-on activities and easy lesson plans that can be tailored according to class needs.
Baker’s Delight joint CEO, Elise Gillespie said understanding where food comes from is an incredibly important part of the way we educate our kids on how to make healthy eating choices so they and their network of franchisees around the country were delighted to be partnering with Life Ed on this important grants program.
“The journey that a single seed of wheat goes through before it winds up in a delicious sandwich is a fascinating one and we can’t wait to start educating kids on where their ingredients come from today, so we can help them have a happier and healthier tomorrow,” Ms Gillespie said.
