Hanwood Stormwater Pump And Levee Update
Traffic on Kidman Way will be reduced to one lane during road works. Initially the southbound lane will be closed then swapped with the northbound land when work on the first lane is complete.
Works on the Hanwood Stormwater Pumpstation have commenced, with the construction of the levee on Kidman Way between Leonard Road and Mallee Street to follow.
This will result in temporary traffic restrictions and road closures.
Following completion of the Stormwater Pumpstation, which will include installation of a pipeline, levee construction will begin on the Kidman Way between Leonard Road and Mallee Street.
This phase of the project will involve significant traffic changes to ensure the safety of both workers and motorists.
During the road works, traffic on Kidman Way will be restricted to a single lane.
Initially, the eastern lane (southbound travel lane) will be closed for construction.
Once work on the southbound lane is complete, it will be reopened, and the western lane (northbound travel lane) will be closed.
Road closures will also be in place for Leonard Road and Mallee Street until the completion of these road works, with access to residents via the service land on Wattle Street, while Leonard Road residents will be able to access their properties via Wilga and Ash Streets.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully, adhere to all signage and traffic control measures, and allow additional travel time during this period.
The road works are expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
