Have Your Say On Council’s Community Engagement Strategy
Residents are invited to review and give feedback on the Community Engagement Strategy draft.
Griffith City Council has invited the community to help shape how it engages with residents.
The draft Community Engagement Strategy is now open for public comment.
The Strategy outlines how Council will involve the community in decisions about plans, projects and initiatives that affect the future of the Local Government Area.
Griffith Mayor Doug Curran said Council was committed to fostering stronger collaboration with the community.
“Engaging with and informing our community are essential if we are to make informed decisions that best reflect community priorities,” Mayor Curran said.
“This strategy will guide how we actively involve residents, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued in shaping our city’s future.
“We are open to any new ideas to enhance the way we connect.”
The draft strategy provides a comprehensive overview of Council’s engagement process, including how and when Council engages, tools and methods used to communicate and how the community can participate.
Director Economic and Organisational Development Shireen Donaldson said resident input was invaluable in assisting Council improve engagement practices.
“We want to ensure that the way we engage with the community reflects the needs and expectations of our residents,” Ms Donaldson said.
“Your input will help us create a more effective and inclusive engagement process.
“Once the feedback period closes, we will be considering all submissions.
“Through engagement already carried out we have heard that residents are mostly satisfied with the way we engage, however we know we can always do better and are happy to hear how we can improve.”
The strategy, which is part of Council’s Integrated Planning and Reporting framework, outlines communication tools and methods to ensure active public involvement.

The strategy will be on public display until 4 pm Friday, December 13.
