With the push to reduce carbon footprints and think “green”, the phrase “One man’s trash ins another man’s treasure” has been given something of a new lease on life, with people literally turning their waste into something else.
Murrumbidgee communities are currently holding an art competition where the art is trash.
The idea of the competition is to create art from waste or turn waste into art.
Kerri Weymouth and Julie Bellato started a series of independently organised eco-art workshops for children in Coleambally yesterday through Western Riverina Arts.
The remainder if this series of workshops will continue on May 18, 20 and 25 and cost $30.
Entries to the competition close at 12 noon on June 16.
Works will then form part of an exhibition, the gala opening of which will take place at Kerri Weymouth Art Studio & Gallery at 25-27 Brolga Place, Coleambally.
They will remain on display there until July 4 before moving to Murrumbidgee Shire Hall at Darlington Point from July 7 to 21 and The Willows Homestead in Jerilderia from July 25 to August 8.
