High Rates Of COVID-19 Vaccination Among MLHD Staff
High rates of COVID-19 rates exist among MLHD’s healthcare workers.
Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) celebrates high rates of COVID-19 vaccination amongst its healthcare workers.
Twenty of the district’s facilities are home to aged care residents and 100 per cent of staff in these facilities have been vaccinated in accordance with mandatory requirements for aged care workers.
MLHD anticipates a vaccination rate of 99.15 per cent among its staff by the September 30 deadline set out under the Public Health order, which states that NSW health employees need to have received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by September 30, 2021 and be fully vaccinated by November 30, 2021 in order to continue their employment. This edict doesn’t apply to the small minority of workers unable to be vaccinated for legitimate reasons, such as medical contraindication.
Health care workers have had priority access above others, together with their families and household contacts from the beginning of the Federal Government’s vaccination rollout in March 2021.
The district has been working closely with staff who are yet to be vaccinated to ensure they have the information they need to make their decision. While the vast majority of staff have embraced vaccination, a very small minority have indicated they do not wish to be vaccinated.
There are 33 facilities across MLHD that operate as a network to provide health care services to 243,000 people in the region.
