Intereach Champions Wheelchair Rugby League In Griffith
Griffith Intereach team gets ready for Wheelchair Rugby League from Thursday, October 31 to Saturday, November 2.
Intereach has partnered with Canberra Region Rugby League (CRRL) and Canberra Raiders once again to empower inclusion through wheelchair rugby league in Griffith.
The CRRL Wheelchair Rugby League program was designed to bring together local disability service providers, young people and the public for a sports experience that is engaging and inclusive.
Sessions will run from Thursday, October 31 to Saturday, November 2, with a public session between 10 am and 2 pm on the final day.
Intereach local area coordinator Amie-Lee Gibbs said the organisation was committed to supporting the Canberra Raiders and players, coordinating and assisting with the general running of the sessions.
“We take pride in encouraging players and participating actively in the games,” Ms Gibbs said.
“Our partnership with the Canberra Raiders has created a wonderful opportunity to show that no matter your skills, we all have the ability to participate.
“The sessions will include both open and closed formats to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and engaged.
“We love championing inclusive sports across our region.
“This program is fostering social inclusion, teaching new skills, and building a sense of team spirit.
“It’s all about creating a fun, interactive, and inclusive environment for all participants.”
CRRL Inclusions Officer Anthony McQueen said Canberra Rugby League was proud to continue its ongoing partnership with Intereach.
“Wheelchair Rugby League provides extended opportunities to engage in and enjoy an all-inclusive sport that caters to people of all abilities,” Mr McQueen said.
“Wheelchair Rugby League provides equal opportunity to all players, and we hope that this program will provide Griffith community members the chance to be involved in the sport, long-term, as we plan for a continued program in the region.”
