It Is time For Businesses To Register For The Star Shopper Campaign

Griffith City Council’s Star Shopper Campaign is back for its third year.

Businesses are invited to get into the Christmas spirit and register as a Star Business as soon as possible to encourage Star Shoppers to spend locally in the lead up to the festive season.

The competition will run from Wednesday, November 1 until Friday, December 15.

By shopping at a Star Business, customers will have an opportunity to win a $500 first prize or one of five runner-up vouchers worth $100 each to spend at any one of the participating businesses.

Griffith City Mayor, Doug Curran said the aim was to increase participation and engagement between Council, business and the community and help reinvigorate the economy.

“There are some amazing businesses in our Local Government Area and I urge them to register,” Mayor Curran said.

“The feedback we received from participating stores in previous years is that it definitely helped attract shoppers.

“By spending locally, residents not only get to put back into our wonderful community, but also have the chance to win.”

Council will promote through social media including Instagram, and businesses are encouraged to showcase their displays using the hashtag #Glow2680.

To be involved, businesses must:

• Register and receive a Glow2680 Star Business promotional sticker so that shoppers can easily identify that they are taking part;
• Deck the shop window with lights and other festive decorations;
• Send Council photos of the window display or simply use the #Glow2680 on social media platforms;
• Hand out entry forms to shoppers who spend over $15 to place in the box provided (one entry per spend);
• Have window lights switched on in time for the Glow2680 Light Up on Friday, December 1; and
• Register to take part in the Christmas Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, December 2.

Star shoppers must:

• Shop in-store throughout the promotional period (from Wednesday, November 1 to Friday, December 15) at any of the Star Businesses, easily identified by the Glow2680 Star Business Sticker;
• Fill out the in-store entry form issued upon spending $15 (one entry per spend); and
• Not forget to do their Christmas shopping during the Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, December 2.

Council will collect entries from participating stores on Monday 18 December 2023, with winners drawn on Tuesday, December 19.
