It Isn’t Christmas Without Carols By Candlelight
Griffith’s community carols by candlelight event will take place tomorrow night at the Burley Griffin Community Gardens from 6:30 pm.
Griffith residents will gather at the Burley Griffin Community Gardens Saturday night to lift their voices to celebrate Christmas.
Carols by Candlelight 2022, curated by Musical Director and Griffith City Councillor, Jenny Ellis, will feature a host of favourite local musicians and a set list designed to delight the crowd.
“Councillor Ellis said she was excited to work on the program and looked forward to carols being held at the new location.
“This year will see the return of the combined primary school choir, which features students from seven participating schools which is the largest number ever involved at carols,” Councillor Ellis said.
“Schools featured include Lake Wyangan Public School, Griffith North Public School, Griffith Public School, Griffith East Public School, St Patrick’s Primary School, Hanwood Public School and Verity Christian College.
“I am really excited that we could feature these local school children who have worked so hard and I know they will wow the crowd.
“In addition, we have a wonderful program compiled which will see local favourites and some new performers take to the stage - it will be a night not to be missed.”
Performers include Teneeka Andreazza, Laura Tarbit, Hannah King, Maika Ravitu, Rosanne Jones, James Walsh, Charlotte Finlayson, The Lolohea Bros, Wrong Direction and Councillors Shari Blumer and Jenny Ellis and more.
Event Organiser, Julie Andreazza has encouraged locals and visitors to take the whole family along and enjoy the festive spirit in the beautiful surroundings.
“I am thrilled that we will be holding this event again and that we can take advantage of the incredible new stage at the Community Gardens to showcase our talented performers,” Mrs Andreazza said.
“Councillor Ellis has worked very hard behind the scenes to put together this incredible program and I know everyone will have a wonderful time with family and friends, in a very picturesque and festive environment.”
Fusion Riverina will provide activities for the children.
Santa has promised to pop in and there will be plenty of food and drinks available from delicious barbecue by Rotary Club Griffith Avanti to Peeches Coffee and Mrs Whippy.
Mrs Andreazza said children were encouraged to dress up in a Nativity costume for the event.
“There may even be an opportunity to present their costumes on stage during the evening,” Mrs Andreazza said.
“I invite you to bring chairs or a picnic rug as seating is not provided at the Community Gardens and Council will have mosquito spray on hand to keep you protected.”
