Mayor McRae said it was a great pleasure to award James with the bursary at the Remembrance Day ceremony in Jerilderie last month.
In publicly congratulating him, Mayor McRae described James’ entry as an insightful and informed essay that was wise beyond his years.
“This bursary will be a great investment in a young man who will make a difference,” she said.
James will start a double degree at the Australian National University, majoring in Economics and Finance in 2023.
He plans to enter the world of financial services after graduating, with a long-term goal of eventually owning a hedge fund.
James thanked Murrumbidgee Council for providing the bursary and assisting people from the area to gain a university qualification.
Council provides the $2000 bursary annually to students in the Council area as a way of supporting education and also recognising the incredible contribution Jerilderie’s most famous son made on the national and world scale.
