Author, Jelena Dokic will share her story at Griffith City Cinema on Thursday, December 7 at 6 pm.

Bestselling author and former world number 4 tennis player, Jelena Dokic will visit Griffith City Library on Thursday, December 7 at 6 pm.

Her second book, Fearless, shares the impact her formative years had on her and her refusal to be defined by her trauma.

She is determined to grow, be stronger and wiser because of that trauma and wants to help others suffering similarly.

Not only did Dokic escape a war, live as a refugee - twice - subject to bullying and suffer immense abuse at the hands of her father, but she did it all while training to be a tennis champion.

Dokic suffered in silence for years and it wasn’t until her first book, Unbreakable, was released that she was able to unburden her secrets.

Join the former tennis star, in conversation, as she shares her stories, her experiences and how she is finding a way to move past them.

Following the talk, books will be available for sale through Collins Booksellers Griffith and signed by the author.

Secure your free ticket via www.eventbrite.com.au.

This is a ticketed event and tickets will need to be displayed upon entry.

Those attending should be aware that topics discussed may include mental health, suicide, abuse, war and eating disorders.

Griffith City Library Manager Chris Robson said this was an author talk not to be missed.

“It’s an honour to have such a strong and successful sportswoman with an incredible story to tell join us in Griffith,” he said.

“I suggest those wanting to attend hurry, because tickets are going fast.”
