Late Night Shopping Returns To Griffith For GLOW2680

The Visit Griffith Team will host Griffith’s Christmas Late Night Shopping on Thursday, December 15 as part of the award-winning program, GLOW2680.

Kooyoo Street will be activated for the first time since the redevelopment with the Local Producers Christmas Markets popping up from 4 pm to 8 pm, providing shoppers with the opportunity to purchase items from local makers.

Events Coordinator, Izabella Apolloni said there wouuld be a wide range of stalls on show at the market, from jewellery and handmade items to locally grown flowers and produce, to drinks, oils and condiments.

“We will have something for everyone,” Ms Apolloni said.

“We are encouraging all retailers and eateries located in the CBD to stay open until late and get into the Christmas sprit.

“This will be a wonderful opportunity for residents to get in some Christmas shopping while supporting local businesses.”

Griffith City Mayor, Doug Curran said Christmas could be a particularly busy time of year, but it was important to take time out to enjoy the festivities.

“Christmas time can be somewhat chaotic so we are hoping by hosting a late night shopping and Christmas Market, that it makes your Christmas shopping that little bit less stressful - and you can support our local retailers,” he said.

“Once the shopping is done, why not enjoy a family dinner at one of the local restaurants?

“You can then take the time to explore the lights throughout the CBD and wander through the impressive display in Memorial Park which will be lit from Friday 2nd December.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to slow down and enjoy the Christmas spirit.”

GLOW2680 kicks off on Friday, December 2 with the launch and Rotary Christmas Carnival from 5:30 pm, with the lights switched on from 7:30 pm.
