Leeton Showgrounds receives $354,221 from the State Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund for upgrades.

The NSW Government announced on Wednesday that the Leeton Showground would receive $354,221 from the NSW Government’s Crown Reserves Improvement Fund.

Minister for Lands and Water, Kevin Anderson said the funding would provide a new shed and seal roads around the showground as well as remove the old, and structurally unsafe, grandstand.

“The NSW Government is committed to supporting regional communities like Leeton who deserve the same standard of facilities as those in larger metropolitan areas,” Mr Anderson said.

“The Leeton Showground is a great asset for the community, and is used by the footy club, the netball club, the show society, the harness racing club and other valuable community organisations.

“That is why this NSW Government funding is so important, as it will improve the facility and allow it to be used for generations to come.”

The Leeton Whitton football club, the netball club, the Leeton Show Society and the Leeton Harness Racing Club will all benefit from the improved storage facility.

“Regional communities are home to the majority of the State’s Crown reserves which provide land for sport and recreation as well as community organisations,” Mr Anderson said.

“These improvements to the showground are part of $16.48 million being offered Statewide to support 264 projects and benefit thousands of people and the cultural, sporting and recreational life of hundreds of local communities.”
