The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach team will conduct workshops at Griffith City Library for preschool and early school-aged children with a contemporary adaptation of a Wiradjuri Dreamtime story.

Griffith City Library is all about offering unique experiences, particularly to young readers.

On Wednesday and Thursday, August 16 and 17 at 11 am and 4 pm, children from 3 to 5 years and 5 to 7 years of age can explore The Story of Pomi and Gobba through a dance workshop.

This story is an adaptation of a Wiradjuri Dreamtime story called Gobbagumbalun and Pomingalarna which is a story local to Wagga.

There is a body of water named Pomingalarna after the story which is known for its chorus of frog cries at night.

Participants will explore the lives and experiences of Pomi and Gobba as they get to know one another and find their way in the world.

The workshops are designed to be accessible to all children regardless of learning styles or physical abilities.

Led by members of The Australian Ballet Education and Outreach team, the workshops do not require children to have had any previous dance experience.

Young participants are encouraged to wear something they can comfortably move in and bare feet or dance shoes.

Bookings to the workshops are required, so contact the library at 6962 8300 or book online at https://www.wrl.nsw.gov.au/our-libraries/griffith-city-library.
