It’s all systems go for our local Council election, which is being held on Saturday 4th December 2021.
For those not yet in the know, local councils are responsible for: public health (including health inspections of shops), local roads and footpaths, street signs and bus stops, local kindergartens and pre-schools, local libraries, local sports fields and playgrounds, community services such as meals-on-wheels, building regulations and development and garbage collection.
Local councils are not responsible for schools, hospitals, State conservation and environment, highways, railways and public transport, public works, agriculture and fishing, industrial relations, community services, sport and recreation, consumer affairs, police, prisons and emergency services.
The following are the polling places in the Griffith area: Griffith East Public School, Griffith North Public School, Griffith Public School, Lake Wyangan Public School, Beelbangera Public School, Hanwood Public School, Yoogali Public School, and Yenda Public School.
