Griffith’s last Community Music Production, The Wedding Singer makes way for next year’s production of Mamma Mia.

Griffith Regional Theatre has announced the return of a Community Musical Production in 2025, this time it will feature the ever-popular music of ABBA in Mamma Mia.

This production, licensed by Music Theatre International (Australasia), tells the story of Sophie and her mother Donna, and Sophie’s quest to find her father to walk her down the aisle.

What follows is an hilarious musical tale of love and laughter with lots of great characters adding to the drama and fun of the wedding preparations.

Theatre manager Marg Adreazza said she was excited to have secured the rights to perform Mamma Mia next year.

“Our community musicals have been really popular both with audiences and performers, and we think this one will be no exception,” Ms Andreazza said.

“Everyone knows the music of ABBA and will love seeing it come to life on stage.

“The performances are scheduled for September next year.

“We have a lot of work to do before then.

“Firstly, we are calling for expressions of interest for a Director for the show, followed by the establishment of a full production team.

“Auditions will be held early next year, but those interested in auditioning can register their interest on our website now.”

The past few musicals the Theatre has produced, including The Wedding Singer, Legally Blonde, Wicked and Beauty and the Beast, have been wonderful opportunities for local musicians, actors, singers, dancers and backstage crew to be involved.

Many people involved have gone on to study and work in theatre and acting, having had a great start in local theatre.

Griffith Regional Theatre is looking for lots of people to be involved, whether as cast members, musicians, production crew or sponsors, so stay tuned to find out how you can be part of the fun.
